Dixie State Ends Northwest Nazarene Win Streak at 11

NAMPA, Idaho - Kendahl Weiland had 18 kills and hit for a .500 percentage as No. 8 seed Dixie State completed a day of upsets in the NCAA Division II West Regional volleyball tournament  by defeating top-seed Northwest Nazarene 3-1 Thursday at the Johnson Sports Center.

All four top seeds fell as fifth-seed BYU-Hawaii emerged as the highest remaining seed.  Dixie State will play BYU-Hawaii in Friday's second semifinal at 7:30 p.m.  Both schools are members of the PacWest Conference.

The first semifinal at 5 p.m. will send two California Collegiate Athletic Conference teams up against each other.  Seventh-seed Sonoma State, the CCAA champions, will face sixth-seed Cal State San Bernardino.

Dixie State won Thursday's final match by set scores of 25--15, 25-23, 20-25, 25-20.  All four opening round matches were decided by 3-1 scores.

In addition to Weiland, the Red Storm was paced by Lindsey Johnes with 16 kills and Edithza Urias with 12 kills.  Jones also had seven blocks.

Kendra Bodine led Northwest Nazarene with 11 kills and Madi Farrell had 10.  Andrea Terpstra and Elayna Rice added nine and eight kills, respectively.  Andrea Terpstra also had seven blocks.
