SEATTLE, Wash. - Cal State L.A. scored 1:02 into overtime to defeat the No. 1 seed and host Seattle Pacific 1-0 Thursday at Interbay Stadium in Seattle.

The Golden Eagles advances to play the NCAA South Central Regional champion Colorado Mesa Saturday for the right to go to the NCAA semifinals in Louisville, Ky.

The second ranked Falcons end their season with a 16-2-2 record after losing its first match at home in 19 games.

Cal State L.A.’s Jordan Payne scored the winning goal off of a shot deflection after a corner kick in the 92nd minute. This is the second NCAA match the Golden Eagles have won in extra time in the tournament, having won on penalty kicks in the opening round.

The NCAA third seed took the offensive in the game, starting with six shots in the first half. Only one of these was on goal as Cody Lang made one of his four saves on the night.

The start of the second half saw two Falcons shots in the first four minutes. Senior Sean Russell took a try in the 49th minute that was blocked. Less than 30 seconds later Kollars took his second shot on goal of the night, again saved by the Golden Eagles.

Cal State L.A. followed the Falcons shots with nine of its own, but the Falcons held strong blocking three while Lang saved three.

The GNAC champions went 40 minutes without a response until Russell kicked the ball on goal in the 89th minute, resulting in one of the Golden Eagles three saves.

In the regulation period the Golden Eagles out shot the Falcons 17-4, but Cal State L.A. only had one more shot on goal than Seattle Pacific, 4 to 3.

Payne scored his seventh goal of the season just over one minute into the overtime period, ending the match and the Falcons season.
