Assistant Track & Field Coach
Northwest Nazarene University (NNU), a comprehensive university with a rich liberal arts tradition, is located in Nampa, Idaho. Department of Intercollegiate Athletics
Northwest Nazarene University (NNU) Athletic Department competes at the NCAA Division II level. NNU is a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) which is comprised of the following ten members: University of Alaska-Anchorage, University of Alaska-Fairbanks, Central Washington University, Montana State University-Billings, Northwest Nazarene University, Saint Martin's University, Seattle Pacific University, Western Oregon University, and Western Washington University. NNU offers the following seven sports for women: volleyball, cross-country, soccer, indoor track & field, basketball, softball, and outdoor track & field. NNU offers the following seven sports for men: cross-country, soccer, golf, basketball, indoor track & field, baseball, and outdoor track & field.
Description of Position
Northwest Nazarene University is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Track & Field Coach, to begin January 2009. The individual will be responsible for all details of the sport including, but not limited to: budget management, recruiting coordinator, assistant meet manager, program enhancement and alumni development coordinator, historian/record keeper, eligibility, compliance, NCAA documentation, scheduling, travel, coaching, field preparation, camps, fund-raising, and other duties assigned by the Head Coach. This position is classified as exempt, Administrative Personnel. The Assistant Coach of Track & Field reports to the Head Coach and to the Director of Athletics.
Esssential Functions
Assist Head Coach with coaching and recruitment responsibilities
Budget management
Recruiting
Assistant Meet manager
Responsible for program enhancement and coordinate alumni development
Act as historian/record keeper
Verification of eligibility
Implement and ensure compliance with NCAA documentation, rules and regulations
Assist with team practice and game-day coaching responsibilities
Responsible for scheduling games and team travel
Assist with fundraising and outreach activities
Organization of daily practices
Field preparation and game day set-up
Summer camps
Successful completion of the NCAA recruiting test annually
Current First Aid/CPR certification
Successful completion of the NNU driving course
Other Functions
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
The University requires that all candidates have a Christian perspective (preferably in the Wesleyan tradition), and must be comfortable with and in agreement with the mission and lifestyle values of NNU and be willing to help advance the spiritual goals of the University.
High motivation and commitment to the University, including the ability to self-start, be calm under pressure, meet deadlines, work without direct supervision, be able to multi-task, problem-solve, and relate to a variety of personalities under diverse circumstances
Must possess knowledge of and commitment to NCAA rules and regulations
Coaching experience at the high school is required
Will be required to pass the annual NCAA Division II recruiting exam
Maintain a current First Aid and CPR card and a current NNU driving certification

Compensation
The salary will be determined by the educational background and experience of each applicant, within a range of $1750 to $1853 per month. Administrative Personnel will be offered a benefits package including health, vision and dental insurance for employee and family, life and disability insurance, annual leave, tuition benefits, opportunities for professional development, and a retirement program.
