GNAC Slated to Host NCAA Cross Country Championships in 2013

For the second time in three years, the Great Northwest Athletic Conference will serve as host of the NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships when they take place in Spokane, Wash., in November 2013.

The championships, which were also staged in Spokane in 2011, will be co-hosted by the GNAC and the Spokane Regional Sports Commission.

The 2013 event is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 23 at Plantes Ferry Athletic Complex. On Nov. 9, the NCAA Regionals will be contested at the same site.

“We are tremendously honored and excited to serve as the host of a national championship event,” said GNAC commissioner Dave Haglund. “The entire conference takes great pride in its host role and going the extra mile to create a memorable experience for the student-athletes and participants.  The conference thoroughly enjoyed staging this championship in 2011, and we look forward to working with the NCAA office and all of our Spokane partners on what should be another outstanding event in 2013.”

Individuals interested in serving as volunteers for the event are asked to contact Dave Haglund at the GNAC office (503-305-8756) or the Spokane Regional Sports Commission (509-456-5812).
