Soccer: 100 Student-Athletes Earn Academic Honors

PORTLAND, Ore. - A total of 98 student-athletes – 59 women and 39 men - have been named to the 2012 Great Northwest Athletic Conference soccer academic all-conference team.

Heading up the women’s academic team is Jenny Field of Northwest Nazarene.  Field is a junior biology major from Nampa.

Montana State Billings and Central Washington each placed 11 players on the women’s academic team, while Saint Martin’s earned 10 slots on the team.

Kyle Roesler of the University of Mary has the top GPA (3.98) on the men’s academic team.  He is a business major from Fargo, N.D.  Seattle Pacific placed the most student-athletes on the men’s team with eight.  Northwest Nazarene had seven, while Sioux Falls and Western Washington each had six.

Fifteen student-athletes were named to the soccer academic team for the third time, including nine women and six men.   An additional 25 student-athletes -- 15 women and 10 men -- earned academic all-conference honors for the second time. 

To be eligible for the GNAC academic team, student-athletes must be a letter winner, have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 and be in at least their second year of competition at their university.
