9 GNAC spikers earn all-region honors

PORTLAND, Ore. – Nine Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball players received all-region recognition for their performance during the 2025 campaign.
 
Among the selections, GNAC Player of the Year Devyn Oestreich of Western Washington was the lone player to appear on the first team on both the American Volleyball Coaches Association and the D2 CCA all-region lists.

Oestreich picked up her first-career all-region accolades, after leading the GNAC with 3.90 kills per set and 0.48 aces per set, while ranking 10th in the league with 3.88 digs per set. She totaled 18 double-doubles during the regular season, helping lead the Vikings to a 13-5 conference record and a regional playoff berth. Oestreich’s teammate Delaney Speer was also an AVCA first-team selection, posting similarly impressive all-around numbers. Speer ranked fourth in the conference with 3.59 kills per set and was 13th with 3.38 digs per set. She posted 15 double-doubles including a 28-dig, 20-kill performance against Seattle Pacific on Oct. 23. The Vikings earned the No. 6 seed into the NCAA West Region Championships and take on No. 3 seed Fresno Pacific at 11 a.m. (Pacific) on Thursday in San Diego.
 
Simon Fraser landed a GNAC-best three players on the all-region list. Leading the way was senior outside hitter Natalie Lemoine-Sells, who earned AVCA first-team honors. Lemoine Sells was sixth in the conference with 3.31 kills per set while ranking 10th in the league with an attack percentage of .258. GNAC Setter of the Year Eva Person was named honorable mention all-region, after ranking third in the conference with 8.79 assists per set and facilitating the Red Leafs’ conference-leading offense at 17.74 points per set. Earning second-team mention from the D2 CCA was sophomore middle blocker Logan Remington, who broke the GNAC single-match record with 18 total blocks on Sept. 5 against San Francisco State. Remington finished the year second in the league with 1.34 blocks per set. It was the first all-region recognition for all three SFU players. SFU tied for its first-ever GNAC regular-season title, going 20-4 overall and 14-4 in conference play. The second-seeded Red Leafs square off against No. 7 seed Central Washington at 1:30 p.m. (Pacific) on Thursday.
 
Leading Central Washington to a share of the regular-season title and back to the NCAA playoffs was AVCA first-team all-region selection Scottie Ellsworth. The senior outside hitter averaged 2.86 kills per set while ranking eighth in the league with an attack percentage of .283. Ellsworth also put up 0.98 blocks per set to help lead the Wildcats to a record of 18-7 overall and 14-4 in conference matches. It marks the first-ever all-region selection for Ellsworth.
 
In-state rivals Alaska Anchorage and Alaska will square off at 7 p.m. (Pacific) on Thursday in the opening round of the regional, each with all-region players on their rosters. For the Seawolves, it is senior outside hitter Tia Allen who earned second-team from the D2 CCA and honorable mention from the AVCA. Allen ranked eighth in the conference with 3.24 kills per set while adding 3.32 digs per set. That put her ninth overall in points per set with 3.69. Allen helped the Seawolves to 23-5 overall and earn a share of the league title at 14-4 in conference play. It was her first all-region recognition.
 
For the Nanooks, junior libero Tessa Onaga and senior outside hitter Mikala Henderson each garnered honorable mention from the AVCA. Onaga ranked third in the GNAC with 4.52 digs per set, on her way to being recognized as the first-team all-conference libero this fall. She was also on the D2 CCA second-team all-region list. Henderson made a big impact in her first season at Alaska, averaging 2.84 kills per set and a total of 3.16 points per set on the season.
 
Abigail Nua of No. 1 regional seed Point Loma was named the regional player of the year by both the D2 CCA and the AVCA. The AVCA also named Cal Poly Pomona’s Kacie Caoili the regional freshman of the year and Kelsee Montagna of Fresno Pacific the regional coach of the year. The D2 CCA regional awards are voted on by information directors at each of the schools in the region, and the AVCA regional awards are voted on by coaches in the region. First-team all-region selections are eligible for All-America honors.
