GNAC POTW: TF records fall as outdoor season progresses

Joshua Caleb broke both the 100 meter and 200 meter GNAC outdoor records last week.
PORTLAND, Ore. – More broken records on the Great Northwest Athletic Conference outdoor track and field list highlighted the latest list of GNAC Players of the Week, announced on Monday.
 
8781MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Joshua Caleb – Alaska Anchorage
Seventh-career track athlete of the week, fifth this season.
 
Caleb broke the GNAC outdoor records for both the 100 meters and 200 meters last week, reaching new collegiate PRs in both events. He won the 100 meters at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate with a GNAC-record time of 10.11 seconds. That broke Alex Donigian’s (WWU) 2015 time of 10.22 seconds, and moved Caleb up to No. 2 on the Division II national performance list. The UAA sophomore also won the 200 meters – at the Beach Invitational – with a conference-record time of 20.50 seconds. That topped the mark of 20.87 set by CWU’s Josh Green last spring, and moved Caleb up to No. 4 on the national performance list in that event. Caleb also helped the Seawolves break their own GNAC record in the 4x100 meter relay, with a time of 40.62 seconds to best their time of 40.79 seconds set earlier this year.

8870MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Isaiah Webster – Central Washington
Second-career field athlete of the week, first this season.
 
Webster won the long jump, triple jump and ran a leg on the winning 4x100 meter relay team at the CWU Wildcat Invitational last week. Webster’s triple jump of 48-11.5 feet (14.92 meters) was the sixth-best in GNAC history, as he got his name onto the all-time outdoor top-10 list. Webster sits No. 1 in the conference with a provisional qualifying mark.

8752WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Bec Bennett – Western Washington
Fourth-career track athlete of the week, fourth this season.
 
Bennett won the 400 meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational, running the third-fastest outdoor time in GNAC history in 53.78 seconds. She also hit a PR in the 200 meters of 23.99 seconds to tie the fourth-fastest time in conference history, on her way to a sixth-place finish at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate. Bennett then helped the Vikings break their own conference record in the 4x400 meters with a time of 3:40.37, moving the team up to No. 11 on the national performance list.

8674WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Jessica Polkinghorn – Western Washington
Third-career field athlete of the week, third this season.
 
Polkinghorn hit collegiate bests in the shot put, javelin and discus at the CWU Wildcat Invitational, winning the shot put and javelin. Her shot put throw of 50-8.25 feet (15.45 meters) was fourth-best in GNAC outdoor history and was the best mark by a GNAC athlete this spring. She also posted marks of 133-10 feet (40.79 meters) in the javelin and 121-3 feet (36.97 meters) in the discus.

8554SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Emma Andrewjeski-Ramirez – Western Washington
Third-career player of the week, second this season.
 
Andrewjeski-Ramirez led the Vikings to a four-game sweep of Central Washington, going 8-for-13 with three doubles and a home run in the series. Andrewjeski-Ramirez also drove in 10 runs including a season-high five in a 3-for-3 performance in game two of the series. The senior catcher upped her season batting average to .365 and she has hit six home runs while driving in 44 thus far in 2025.

8676SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Monica Bourque – Simon Fraser
Second-career pitcher of the week, second this season.
 
Bourque picked up her second nod of the season with a pair of stellar performances in wins over Saint Martin’s. In 12 total innings pitched, Bourque struck out 19 hitters while allowing just 11 baserunners and one run. The run came amid a season-high 10-strikeout complete game her first time facing the Saints. She followed with a five-inning shutout, striking out nine, walking none and allowing just three hits. Bourque lowered her season ERA to 2.31 and now has 89 strikeouts in 100 innings pitched.

8871BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bryan Rojas – Northwest Nazarene
First-career player of the week.
 
Rojas was a near-impossible out in a four-game sweep of Central Washington, going 9-for-18 (.500) with nine RBIs and five runs scored. Rojas had a pair of doubles and a pair of home runs, including his first multi-homer game of the season on Saturday. Rojas raised his batting average to .377 on the year and he has hit six long balls while driving in 34.

8872BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Jonathan Garza II – Central Washington
Second-career pitcher of the week, first this season.
 
Garza II had his best outing of the season to date, allowing one unearned run across six innings against Northwest Nazarene. The right-hander had a season-high eight strikeouts while issuing just one walk and scattering five hits along the way. It was the sixth time this spring that the second-year Wildcat has logged at least six innings during a start.

8783MEN’S GOLF PLAYER OF THE WEEK
David Sibbett – Western Washington
Third-career player of the week, third this season.
 
Sibbett crushed the competition at the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational, winning the event among a field of 85 competitors in the final regular-season event prior to the GNAC Championships. Sibbett carded a three-round score of 12-under-par 204, posting rounds of 67, 70 and 67. That was good enough for a three-stroke victory, as he put together his best performance of the year to date.
