GOLD RIVER, Calif. – A narrow margin of victory went the way of Cal Poly Humboldt on Saturday morning at Lake Natoma, as the Lumberjacks edged Western Washington for the 2025 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Women’s Rowing Championships team title.
Cal Poly Humboldt totaled 27 points in the final team standings, using a win in the varsity 4+ race and a runner-up finish in the varsity 8+ race to claim the overall conference championship crown. The Vikings won the varsity 8+ race and placed third in the varsity 4+ race, finishing with 26 points to take second in the team standings. Central Oklahoma finished third with 19 points, and Seattle Pacific was close behind in the team race with 18 points.
Saturday’s crown marked the first-ever GNAC team title for Cal Poly Humboldt. It joined Western Washington (2022, 2024) and Central Oklahoma (2021, 2023) as the third school to win the GNAC Championships since the event was founded in 2021.

The Lumberjacks, ranked No. 2 in the latest Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association national poll, cruised to victory in the varsity 4+ race with a time of 7:49.842 minutes. That was quick enough for a nine-second victory ahead of the Bronchos, who clocked in at 7:58.803 minutes. Western Washington’s boat crossed the line in third place at 8:08.813 minutes, and was followed by Seattle Pacific in fourth place with a time of 8:09.373 minutes.

Ranked No. 1 nationally, the Vikings picked up a sound victory in the varsity 8+ competition with a time of 7:05.841 minutes. That gave them a five-second cushion ahead of the runner-up Lumberjacks, who finished with a time of 7:10.441. Seattle Pacific finished in third place with a time of 7:18.183 minutes, and Central Oklahoma completed the regatta in fourth at 7:23.325 minutes.
