The No. 9 nationally ranked Vikings got off to a quick start with four runs in the bottom of the 1st inning with sophomore center fielder Laila Carpenter providing the big hit with a three-run double to center field. Western added another run in the 2nd inning and two more in the 3rd to build the 7-0 lead.
CUI relief pitcher Kailey Estes tamed the Vikings bats through the middle innings with six strikeouts in 3.1 innings before Andrewjeski-Ramirez left the yard in center field for her team-leading seventh home run to end the game an inning early.
Carpenter went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI and Andrewjeski-Ramirez was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Sophomore Maleah Andrews recorded a bases loaded walk extending her school-record streak of reaching base safely to 48 consecutive games.
