PORTLAND, Ore. – Continuing her record-breaking spree last week in Reno, Nev., Simon Fraser sprinter
Emma Cannan once again lit up the track to headline the latest Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week selections.
WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Emma Cannan – Simon Fraser University
Fifth-career track athlete of the week, third this season.
Cannan took down a pair of GNAC records last week, becoming the first woman in conference history to run sub-53 seconds in the 400 meters. Cannan clocked a time of 52.48 seconds at the Wolf Pack Classic, breaking her own conference record of 53.56 seconds run earlier this winter. Cannan also ran 23.19 seconds in the 200 meters, breaking the conference record of 23.39 seconds set by SFU’s Marie-Eloise Leclair in 2024. The senior now ranks first in NCAA Division II in both the 200 meters and 400 meters, and has her name seventh on the national performance list in the 60 meters as well.
SFU Head Coach Brit Townsend: “Emma continues to impress everyone around her. Not only has she reached number one GNAC all-time in both the 200 and 400, she is now one of the best in Canada. Emma is hard-working, humble and thrives on each challenge that is put in front of her. There is no doubt she has a great future ahead.”
Also Nominated: Liv Heite, Alaska Anchorage; Elise Hopper, Central Washington; Izzy Ping, Montana State Billings; Hazel Kunkel, Northwest Nazarene; Taryn Wochnick, Saint Martin’s; Jazmine Dotson, Western Oregon; Bec Bennett, Western Washington.
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Carley Huber – Central Washington University
First-career field athlete of the week.
Huber had a productive showing at the Riverfront Invitational and Multis in Spokane, Wash., competing in both the pentathlon and the 4x400 meter relay. In the multis, Huber put together a total score of 3,316 points to slot her name third on the GNAC performance list so far in 2025-26. She also helped the Wildcat relay unit to a victory with a time of 3:46.37 minutes – the second-fastest time by a GNAC team so far this season.
CWU Head Coach Jonathan Hill: “Carley wanted a practice run at the pent before GNAC’s, so we took a little gamble and ran through one. This is great feedback that we are on the right track, because we left there thinking we had left some points on the board. She came back and broke the school record in the 4x400 meters, and it was a great weekend for her on her way to even more.”
Also Nominated: Vivien Liessfeld, Alaska Anchorage; Hannah Cooper, Montana State Billings; Madi McCarty, Northwest Nazarene; Olivia Windbiel, Simon Fraser; Alecia Lemeza, Western Oregon.
MEN’S TRACK ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Western Washington University 4x400 Meter Relay
Lucas Brenek | Evin Ford | Maurice Woodring | Jackson Moffitt
The Vikings broke the GNAC record in the 4x400 meter relay for the second time this season, this time doing so en route to a victory at the Wolf Pack Classic. Topping a field of 15 teams at the event, WWU ran a conference-record time of 3:11.38 minutes for a decisive win over second-place Sacramento State (3:13.73 minutes). That was slightly faster than the GNAC record of 3:11.92 minutes the Vikings set earlier this winter, as WWU has the first two men’s relay teams to run sub-3:12 minutes in league history. WWU climbed to No. 11 on the NCAA Division II national performance list with last week’s results.
WWU Head Coach Ben Stensland: “Coach Dena Birade has really been pushing our 400m group. They have some lofty goals and they’re well on their way to accomplishing them. They have been trending positively this indoor season and will be ready to do something special at the GNAC Championships.”
Also Nominated: Colton Magruder, Central Washington; Brock Grossman, Montana State Billings; Grady Mylander, Northwest Nazarene; Zachary Jeggo, Simon Fraser; Brennen Murphy, Western Oregon.
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Nathan Roth – Simon Fraser University
First-career field athlete of the week.
Roth had his best showing yet, finishing third among 40 competitors in the long jump at the Wolf Pack Classic. The freshman cleared a distance of 23-6.75 feet (7.18 meters), earning a provisional national qualifying mark and putting his name at the top of the GNAC performance list this season. It was a significant improvement for Roth, whose previous season best of 22-9.25 feet (6.94 meters) came in his collegiate debut on Jan. 17.
SFU Head Coach Brit Townsend: “Nathan has burst onto the jumping scene. This was his third indoor meet ever, and he left no doubt that it was just the beginning of what is possible. Nathan is a hard-working and determined young man and we are excited for what’s to come.”
Also Nominated: Anders Larsen, Alaska Anchorage; Cal’von Baker, Central Washington; Cort Sandefur, Montana State Billings; Amos Lewis, Northwest Nazarene; Jacob Behrman, Western Oregon.
MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bishop Tosi – University of Alaska Anchorage
Second-career player of the week, first this season.
Tosi led the Seawolves to a pair of conference victories last week, as UAA took down Central Washington and Northwest Nazarene on its home floor. Tosi made 13 of 16 shots in the win over the Wildcats Thursday, on his way to a season-high 30 points. He was also one off his season high with eight boards. He followed that with 14 points on 5-for-8 shooting in a win over Northwest Nazarene on Saturday, while adding five more rebounds and two assists. Overall on the week Tosi shot 75.0% (18-for-24) while averaging 22.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Tosi bumped his season scoring average up to 11.7 points per game, and he has started all 24 contests for the Seawolves this winter.
UAA Head Coach Rusty Osborne: “Bishop was outstanding for us this weekend on both ends of the floor. He continued his excellent play since we came back from winter break. He has been efficient offensively and continues to be tremendous for us on the defensive end as well.”
Also Nominated: Davis Crilly, Alaska; Chae Haynes, Central Washington; Mason Landdeck, Montana State Billings; Garret Hawkes, Northwest Nazarene; Theo McMillan, Seattle Pacific; Mikyle Malabuyoc, Simon Fraser; Carson Frincke, Western Oregon; Dennis Johnson III, Western Washington.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Avery Oaster – Saint Martin’s University

Oaster had a productive week all over the court for the Saints, who picked up a pair of road wins to keep themselves in the hunt for the GNAC regular-season title. Against Montana State Billings on Thursday, Oaster completed her third double-double of the year with a season-high 13 rebounds to go along with 18 points. She added two steals, two assists and a block while committing just one turnover in 38 minutes on the floor. She just missed another double-double on Saturday against Seattle Pacific, making 6 of 8 shots for 15 points and finishing with nine rebounds. Oaster shot 59.1% (13-for-22) in the two-games, while averaging 16.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. Overall on the season she is averaging 11.5 points per game and ranks seventh in the GNAC with 7.3 rebounds per game.
SMU Head Coach Natalie Marlowe: “As one of our captains Avery leads us every day with her effort, and that effort was on full display last weekend. We have asked so much of Avery this year and she rises to the occasion when we need it most, hitting big shots or coming up with a timely defensive stop. She is out-sized nearly every game, yet she still finds ways to scrap for rebounds and blocks. I am so proud of how Avery has approached this season and continues to get better each week.”
Also Nominated: Elaina Mack, Alaska Anchorage; Tamai Mancuso, Alaska; Asher Cai, Central Washington; Cassie Chesnut, Montana State Billings; Allie Hueckman, Northwest Nazarene; Grace Leasure, Seattle Pacific; Rachel Loukes, Simon Fraser; Kylani Rookstool, Western Oregon; Aspen Garrison, Western Washington.
SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

First-career player of the week.
Bell helped lead the Nighthawks to a successful week in California, as NNU went 4-3 throughout a full week of NCAA Division II competition. Bell totaled three home runs and nine RBIs on the week, and produced numerous timely swings of the bat. Bell had four RBIs in NNU’s win over Regis on Feb. 6 and in her team’s win over San Francisco State on Feb. 7, clearing the fence in each game. She also recorded a pair of doubles and scored five runs across the seven-game sample. Defensively, bell committed zero errors in 24 chances at third base, helping NNU turn a pair of double plays. Through the first 11 games of the season, Bell is slashing .344/.447/.781 with four homers and a dozen RBIs.
NNU Head Coach Rich Wagner: “Keana consistently came up with big swings in big moments all week. She also played an amazing third base and saved multiple games with her defense.”
Also Nominated: Jadyn Holdren, Central Washington; Marleigh Nieto, Montana State Billings; Cassidy Affeldt, Simon Fraser; Lexi Baumgartner, Western Oregon; Hailey Rath, Western Washington.
SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Lynsey Chiala – Northwest Nazarene University
First-career pitcher of the week.
Chiala was outstanding across three appearances in the circle last week, allowing just two hits and zero runs to help NNU to a winning record. Her top effort was a three-inning stint against Regis, as she struck out three and allowed just one walk. She also tossed 2 1/3 perfect innings in a win over Concordia Irvine, retiring all seven hitters she faced to earn the victory in that contest as well. Chiala has yet to surrender a run across 8 2/3 innings and five appearances thus far in 2026.
NNU Head Coach Rich Wagner: “Lynsey came in and shut the door for us. All of her innings were late in games and in big moments.”
Also Nominated: Zoey Theophilus, Central Washington; Ashley Akers, Montana State Billings; Monica Bourque, Simon Fraser; Braeli Martin, Western Oregon.
BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Coleman Parry – Northwest Nazarene University
First-career player of the week.
Northwest Nazarene won all three games that Parry played in last week, as he helped his team take down Azusa Pacific and Cal State LA twice. The signature of his big week was a four-double performance against the Golden Eagles on Saturday, as he tied former Nighthawk Duke Pahukoa’s GNAC record (set on March 11, 2022). Parry had multiple RBIs in each game, totaling eight on the week. He went 8-for-10 (.800) with six doubles, scored a pair of runs and drew two walks on his way to an .833 on-base percentage.
NNU Head Coach Joe Schaefer: “Coleman was a rockstar at the plate this past week. He had big hits in all of our wins. None was bigger than the bases-clearing, two-out double in game four against Cal State LA which helped seal the game.”
Also Nominated: Kaden Bertram, Montana State Billings; Benny Nazario, Western Oregon.
BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Ayden Holker – Western Oregon University
First-career pitcher of the week.
Making his season debut on Thursday, Holker contributed to the Wolves’ series split against Fresno Pacific. The right-hander delivered a quality start, tossing six shutout innings in the 17-0 triumph. He struck out five while walking two and scattered four hits for a WHIP of 1.00 in the outing. Holker is in his third season with the Wolves and has made nine-career starts on the mound.
WOU Head Coach Kellen Walker: “Ayden was able to get ahead in quite a few counts and did a good job of executing his plan during his outing. He has put in a lot of work since last season and we are excited to see him continue to work hard and hopefully continue to progress.”
Also Nominated: Carson Waples, Montana State Billings; Hayden Crews, Northwest Nazarene; Luke Fulkerson, Saint Martin’s.
WOMEN’S GOLF PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Lauren J. Lee – Seattle Pacific University
Second-career player of the week, second this season.
Lee was the GNAC’s top performer at the Cal State LA Spring Kickoff tournament last week, tying for 19th place among a field of 75 competitors. Lee carded a three-round score of 10-over-par 226 (76-72-78) to kick off the spring portion of her season. Lee’s strongest stretch came in the second round of the tournament, where she posted an even-par 72 including a string of three birdies within a seven-hole segment. Overall in the tournament Lee posted seven birdies to emerge as the conference’s top performer. Lee lowered her season scoring average to 77.5 strokes per round, moving up to ninth on the GNAC leaderboard.
SPU Head Coach Tyler Copp: “Lauren played so well for us. She was extremely consistent each round and really did a good job managing the course and playing her game. Any time you play 54 holes it takes a lot of mental toughness to handle the highs and lows of golf breaks. On day one she started plus-six her first six holes, and proceeded to go even-par her next 30 holes. She finished the tournament on a high note with a really solid third-round 78. She is not only showing her ability to be one of the best in the conference, but also exponential growth from tournament to tournament which is a hard thing to do in our sport. We are excited for her to improve in specific areas of her game. Lauren and the team are very proud of her performance last week.”
Also Nominated: Lauren F. Lee, Western Washington.
