COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – For the 16th time the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Championships are hosted by the Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course, with the three-round tournament set to kick off on Monday morning.
It will be the 18th overall running of the conference tournament dating back to its inception in 2008, and for the first time since it was founded it will take place across three days. The men’s 54-hole event will now run Monday-Wednesday, avoiding a 36-hole day of competition on Monday which occurred at the previous championships. The new format mirrors the NCAA regional and national championships format in the coming weeks.

WWU's Conrad Brown holds the second-lowest single-season stroke average in GNAC history at 70.7 in 2025-26.
The Vikings have been the conference’s top team from start-to-finish in 2025-26, entering the championship tournament as the top-ranked NCAA west region team and No. 25 in the Clippd national rankings. WWU’s memorable season featured team victories at the Kevin Bishop Invitational on Sept. 26-27, the CSU
Peter Dionne-Yahr.
Monterey Bay Otter Invitational Oct. 13-14 and most recently at the CSU San Marcos Fujikura Invitational Feb. 9-10. WWU holds a team scoring average of 287.0 strokes per round – 1.8 strokes lower than the next-closest GNAC team. Fronting the group is the conference’s top individual player through the regular season in junior
Conrad Brown. He leads the GNAC with a scoring average of 70.7 strokes per round and is the league’s top nationally-ranked player at No. 48 according to Clippd. Brown’s current stroke average is second in GNAC single-season history, behind only WWU’s Jordan Lee who set the GNAC record at 70.3 strokes per round in 2023. Brown will be competing at the GNAC Championships for the second time in his career, after finishing tied for ninth as a freshman in 2023.
Senior
Peter Dionne-Yahr will lead the Vikings at this year’s championship, which will be his third with the program. His top finish at the event was fourth place as a sophomore in 2024, and his career average of 72.88 strokes across 88 rounds is fifth-lowest in GNAC history. Junior
Nick Ennis is another Viking with two conference tournaments under his belt, including a tie for second place on last year’s leaderboard. Although
Rex Wilson and
Chris Zamani will be making the conference tournament debuts, they rank fifth and eighth in the GNAC, respectively. The Vikings’ entire championship lineup ranks within the top-eight in the conference in terms of stroke average. WWU has won a GNAC-record 11 conference titles in men’s golf, and will look for its first frigid plunge into the Coeur d’Alene Lake since its most recent crown in 2024.

Although the Vikings enter this year’s tournament as the favorite based on rankings, the Red Leafs return four players who each contributed to last year’s GNAC Championships title. Headlining the list is two-time all-conference performer
Denby Carswell, who is third in the GNAC this season at 71.9 strokes per round. Carswell tied for second at last year’s conference tournament, after tying for 12th on his way to GNAC Freshman of the Year honors in 2024. Across 79-career rounds played, Carswell’s career scoring average of 72.13 strokes per round ranks him third all-time among GNAC players.
Max Corcoran matched Carswell with a tie for second place at last year’s conference tournament, staking his claim as 2025 GNAC Freshman of the Year. Also back from last year’s championship-winning roster are
Brendan O’Brien, who finished eighth, and
Justin Bjornson, who finished tied for 13th. The Red Leafs’ bid to become the first repeat champion since WWU in 2016-17 will be rounded out by freshman
Ben Buchner, who will see the championship course for the first time. Regardless of the outcome this week, the Red Leafs stand in very strong position to advance to the NCAA regional championships as they appeared at No. 6 in the latest west region rankings released April 10.
